FIRE COURSE ON BOARD
AND ON THE DOCK
Fire prevention on board and at the dock requires field experience and specific knowledge.
The outbreak of a fire on board is one of the most insidious dangers for sailors. A boat, being a confined and restricted environment, is a place where flames can spread rapidly, further fueled by the presence of wind.
Firefighting Training Course for Skippers (FOR-1 Course for firefighting personnel under Legislative Decree 81/08 and Law No. 609 of 28 November 1996, in accordance with Ministerial Decree of 2 September 2021, Ministerial Decree of 14 October 1996, and DCPREV Note 8274 of 31/05/2022);
Firefighting Training Course for Recreational Boaters
Do not risk your life, your property, and the environment.
Course Objectives:
Provide the necessary skills to prevent and manage fires on board at sea or while moored at the dock safely and effectively.
Addressing a fire requires readiness and preparation: it is essential to be equipped with adequate safety gear and know how to use it promptly.
Course Program and Duration:
1) Firefighting Training Course for Skippers (A participation certificate FOR-1 Basic is issued upon completion) – Duration: 4 hours.
Theoretical Part: Covers topics such as:
Principles of combustion;
Fire-extinguishing agents;
Emergency management (GSA).
Practical Part: Participants, using equipment provided by the Sea My Way club, will engage in a hands-on fire extinguishing exercise with simulators.
2) Firefighting Training Course for Recreational Boaters (A participation certificate is issued upon completion).
Duration: 3 hours.
Theoretical Part: Covers topics such as:
Principles of combustion;
Fire-extinguishing agents;
Emergency management (GSA).
Practical Part: Participants will perform a fire extinguishing exercise using simulators.
Courses conducted by an instructor certified by the Fire Department, Public Rescue, and Civil Defense, in accordance with Ministerial Decree 2/9/2021 (Art. 6, Com. 3, letter b)."
